THE START OF ADULTHOOD...
YEAH RIGHT!
Aged 14.5 to 18, these Young Leaders with their dark grey shirts begin the long road to becoming our replacements... we are so doomed.
Nah, I'm only messing. In all seriousness these guys are the future of Scouting. They are provided with the full training and the enhanced leadership skill sets required to efficiently plan and run activities for any section of Scouting. Without them, running a Scout Group would be nearly impossible.
But whilst we are so grateful for their help, we accommodate to their needs, placing college or school above all else and rewarding them for their help with activities and days out including theme park trips and water sport days.
Being a Young Leader is so much fun but it also offers many benefits, allowing these soon-to-be adults the opportunity to try out the skills they've learnt from Scouting over the years and even undergo the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.
However, you need not have been a Beaver, Cub or Scout to become a Young Leader.
